General FAQ

  • Yes, we do. We offer direct billing for both extended healthcare benefits and ICBC claims.

    Direct billing makes payment convenient for those with healthcare benefits. So, the only out-of-pocket cost you must pay is any relevant deductible and user fee.

    We handle all the paperwork and technical details, so you don't have to. 

  • Depending on your plan, the coverage of treatment may be different. While some health plans will cover a precise amount, others will cover a percentage. If you have concerns, check what your health care plan offers, or contact your company to seek out the plan details. We do offer direct billing, making it super easy and convenient.

  • The best way is to visit our online booking site. It's user-friendly and is where you can find our practitioners and their availability.

    Please call or email us if you do not wish to use the online system.

  • We must have a strict cancellation policy Because we reserve time specifically for our patients.

    The total amount will need to be charged for any missed appointments or appointments without 24 hours’ notice. Thank you so much for being so understanding.

  • Whether you are coming to see one of our Registered Massage Therapists or Acupuncturists, you do not need a doctor's referral.

    If you claim the treatment under an extended health care plan, you may be required to get a physician referral as part of the coverage. Please check your policy to determine if this would be the case.

  • Yes, there is an impark metered parking at See-em-ia lane. You will find it by turning off either Burrard St or Thurlow St.

    When you arrive for your appointment, your massage therapist will want to asses you, which will include any preference you may need.

    Our massage therapists are constantly communicating with you throughout your treatment to ensure you are comfortable and applying the correct pressure, giving you the best experience suited for you.

  • Massage Therapy while Pregnant is a safe way to treat those aches and discomforts during pregnancy.

    Please let your registered massage therapist know before your appointment. This will allow them to accommodate your needs and make your experience as comfortable as possible.

    The practitioners' techniques help relax and relieve those tight, tense muscles.

  • Massage shouldn't be painful! You might feel some temporary soreness afterward, which is a sign that tight muscles are loosening up. Some areas may feel a bit sensitive during the massage, especially if you have pain.

    Our therapists are trained to use gentle pressure and will always check in with you about your comfort level. If anything feels uncomfortable, just let them know, and they'll adjust their pressure. Our goal is for you to leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!

  • Your comfort is our priority! You can undress to whatever level feels best for you. Many people choose to wear underwear or a sports bra and shorts.

    We'll provide towels and blankets to keep you draped throughout the massage. Therapists will always leave the room while you get comfortable and return when you're ready.

    No worries about snoring or a little drool (especially if you're on your stomach). We'll have tissues handy, and feel free to ask for anything you need!

    Your therapist will likely ask how the pressure feels throughout your session but don't hesitate to speak up at any time. If you'd like things lighter or deeper, just let them know! We want your massage to be relaxing and effective, so don't worry about feeling uncomfortable.

  • Acupuncture needles are very thin and flexible, much thinner than needles used for shots. While you might feel a slight tingle or dull ache when the needles are inserted, it's usually not painful. Many patients even find acupuncture quite relaxing! Our goal is to make your experience comfortable. Let us know if you have any concerns at all.

  • At West End Wellness, your safety is our priority. Acupuncture is a well-established practice with a very good safety record, especially when performed by a licensed acupuncturist like ours. While minor side effects like slight bruising can occasionally occur, they are usually temporary and resolve on their own. We will discuss any potential risks with you before your treatment so you feel completely comfortable.

  • The number of acupuncture treatments varies depending on your individual needs and goals. During your consultation, we'll discuss your condition and create a personalized treatment plan together. This plan will likely involve more frequent sessions initially, followed by less frequent maintenance sessions as you progress. We'll work clos

  • Absolutely! We have a team of skilled acupuncturists, and you're welcome to choose the one that best suits your needs. You can book a "Follow Up Visit" with any acupuncturist if you've been to our clinic within the last year. For visits after a year or with a new practitioner, booking an "Initial Visit" allows for a more comprehensive assessment. We want to ensure you receive the best possible care, so let us know if you have any questions about choosing an acupuncturist.

  • Your first visit is all about relaxation! We'll chat about your health goals, then you'll get comfy with calming music and warmth (optional). Thin, sterile needles will be used at specific points. They stay in for 15-40 minutes while you relax or even nap! We'll remove the needles and answer any questions. You can go about your day, but stay hydrated. We'll make sure you feel comfortable throughout. Just ask if you have any questions!

  • Eat beforehand: Have a light meal 1-2 hours before your appointment.

    Dress comfortably: Wear loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to your elbows and knees. Alternatively, feel free to bring shorts and a tank top to change into.
